Researches, tests, evaluates, and recommends data
communications hardware and software: Identifies areas of
operation which need upgraded equipment, such as modems, fiber
optic cables, and telepohne wires. Conducts suvrey to determine
user needs. Reads technical manuals and brochures to determine
equipemnt which meets establishment requirements. Visits vendors
to learn about available products or services.
Tests and
evaluates hardware and software to determine efficiency,
reliability, and compatibility with existing system, using
equipment such as computer termianl and modem. Analyzes test
data and recomemnds hardware or software for purchase. Develops
and writes procedures for installation, use, and solving
probelms of communications hardware and software. Monitors
system perforamnce. Trains users in use of equipment.
Assists
users to identify and sovle data communication problems.
May
write technical specificatinos to send to vendors for bid.
May
ovresee or assist in installation of communications hardware.
May perform mionr equipment repairs.
